I’ve been giving a xs max from a friend as she upgraded but it says it’s locked.. How do I unlock it? Do I need to take it to a store? Everything is locked can’t use it.. Tried signing out of her apple id and it hasn’t worked.

To properly reset an iPhone you must remove it from your iCloud using your computer, then sign out of iCloud on the phone itself, and sign out of Google and Samsung accounts on the phone under settings. Then do a factory reset.
