I thought that refresh rate is a hardware dependent feature.

    It is. That’s exactly why this is experimental. A display is made to overclock refresh a bit before breaking. 75Hz probably hurts the display quality, brightness and battery life, while stressing the CPU to do something that it’s not designed to do. I doubt this is an official announcement, probably an XDA post.

    My friend did it but i didn’t cause a lot of people face problems after overclocking it
