Not long ago, we enjoyed the photographing capabilities of the Samsung S9 plus, Samsung note 8, iPhone X and Pixel 2 XL flagships at night.
Recently, Macrumors have taken out the Samsung S9 plus, iPhone X and conducted a face-to-face camera’s performance test, detailed comparison on the similarities and differences between the two mobile phones.
In terms of hardware specifications, the Samsung S9 plus features Dual Pixel’s 12-megapixel dual camera with a 12-megapixel main lens (supporting f/1.5-f/2.4 irises) and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens (f/2.4) aperture.
In addition, Samsung S9 plus also supports OIS optical image stabilization and 960fps slow-motion video capture. Samsung said that the S9 series can get 28% more light and reduce noise by 30% compared with the previous generation.
Macrumors said that the iris is the biggest highlight of the Samsung S9+, and it’s easier to find a balance between light and image quality when taking pictures.

Samsung S9 plus vs iPhone X camera
Samsung S9 plus supports the “Live Focus” mode similar to the iPhone X “Portrait Mode”, which can achieve the effect of bokeh. Although there are flaws in both modes, in contrast, the S9 plus foreground object edge will be handled better, and the iPhone X proofs have blurred the edges of the top right corner of the signboard.
In terms of video shooting, Samsung S9 plus can shoot 960FPS slow-motion video, while iPhone X only supports 240FPS . In 4K video recording, although both phones support optical image stabilization, the Samsung S9 plus’s video performance is significantly weaker. However, iPhone X is better at suppressing outdoor wind noise.
